Wayne, Gary, a Viking Hat and a Bunch of Shrimp Gobblers

Wayne has been talking to me, for some time now, about wanting to catch a Bonefish. In fact, it was a topic that came up quite often at our FOCAS meetings, or pretty much anytime we talked. I had to do what I could to quiet his constant clamber. The topic alone made him like a kid pining to see the latest animated movie.

Gary was already in town helping me with some business stuff, boat trailer etc... and so I had to get these two together for a quick Bonefish trip in San Diego Bay.

We started off by me beaching the boat up on my favorite Ghost Shrimp spot, and after only 20 minutes, I had about 50 quality Ghost Shrimp to start our day. I don't remember who hooked up first, but it took no time for these two to get Bonefish. Of course, once I told them about Jim and I finding the Viking Hat, being the jokers they are, they had to pose every fish picture with it on. Could this be a new trend aboard my boat - Fish Inspired?

In between all the Bonefish, you would have thought we were at Guitar Center. There was a special on big Guitar Fish, and we had a VIP coupon. We all got some nice ones, but Gary led the way with one that had to be 30+ pounds. It was just over 48" in length, and he caught it on 8# Ande. What a Fish!

After all the Ghost Shrimp had been devoured, we went to throwing Crankbaits and caught a ton of Spotted Bay Bass. That's when I showed Wayne just how good the Lazer Lure was at catching Spotties. All fish were released. Good Fun with Good People, that's what fishing is all about.
